When you think of collabs in skateboarding, you probably don’t think Formula One (or gnarly race cars in general)—but leave it to adidas to throw us a curveball. Right before the Formula One Miami Grand Prix this past weekend, Tyshawn Jones and Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS team boss Toto Wolff linked up for a rad little moment that brought two very different worlds together. Not your average tow-in, right? But hey, these aren’t average people we’re talking about here, either! If you follow Tyshawn on Instagram, you know this isn’t his first time blasting over something gnarly (I mean, he’s literally ollied over a car before), but this one had a different flavor. To tie it all together, Tyshawn hooked up Toto a signed pair of his signature adidas kicks, and Toto returned the love with a Miami GP-exclusive, signed Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS jersey. Boom.
Like many of you (well, I assume at least), I wasn’t too familiar with who Toto Wolff was. But he’s a big dog in the racing world, and he’s also a billionaire, ha. So props to adidas for making this crossover happen. Skating and F1 aren’t supposed to mix—but hey, now that they have. TJ is full of surprises. Let’s just add this one to the list.
