A wildfire on Nova Scotia’s Eastern Shore is now being held, the Natural Resources Department said in a Sunday morning update.
The fire is estimated at 1,447 hectares, but barely spread Saturday.
Being held means the fire is active but not expected to grow beyond its current boundaries.
In response, the Halifax Regional Municipality ended a mandatory evacuation order for the area. With residents able to return home, the evacuation centres at Musquodoboit Rural High School and Marine Drive Academy have closed.
Crews will continue containment efforts throughout the day, but aircraft may not be needed.
