Provincial police say they are investigating after three people were killed and others were injured in a multi-vehicle collision in Kawartha Lakes, Ont.
Police say emergency crews responded to the intersection of Highway 7 and New Heights Road on Saturday at 6 p.m. for reports of a serious collision involving a passenger vehicle and four motorcycles.
They say the driver of the passenger vehicle, an 18-year-old man from Peterborough, Ont., was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say one of the motorcyclists, a 72-year-old man from Dunchurch, Ont., was also pronounced dead at the scene.
A second motorcyclist, a 65-year-old man from Barrie, Ont., was airlifted to a Toronto-area hospital with serious injuries, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police say a third motorcyclist, a 30-year-old man from Sudbury, Ont., was initially taken to a local hospital with injuries and later transferred to a Toronto-area hospital, while a fourth motorcyclist, a 36-year-old Sudbury man, was treated and released at the scene.
