Surrey police say officers are investigating a shooting Thursday morning at a home in the South Newton neighbourhood. The shooting is believed to be extortion-related.

The home, owned by Cricket Canada president Arvinder Khosa, was previously shot at on May 20.

Front-line officers responded to reports of a shooting by 57 Avenue and 148 Street just after 4 a.m. PT Thursday, according to a news release from the Surrey Police Service (SPS).

The home was occupied at the time of the shooting but no one was injured, police said.

“The investigation is in its early stages; however, it is believed to be extortion related due to previous threats and a shots fired incident outside the residence on May 20, 2026,” the release said.

The SPS extortion response team has taken over the investigation.

Anyone with information, including CCTV or dashcam footage, or who may know the suspects’ identities is asked to contact police.

Cricket Canada was the focus of a fifth estate investigation published in April that revealed broader allegations of corruption, influence by organized crime and attempts to fix parts of matches by major figures at Cricket Canada. Those accused deny the allegations.

It also revealed Khosa, who has maintained his position as the president of Cricket B.C., was connected to local players who claimed to be part of the Bishnoi gang and had allegedly threatened a national men’s player in 2025. He previously denied those allegations.
