Sometimes you just gotta dig 30-plus years into your archive, laugh at what in the world you were thinking, and… do it again. Real Skateboards recently brought one of their most memorable and ridiculous series back to life—the Costume series—with reimagined graphics for Ishod Wair, Nicole Hause, Mason Silva and Jimmy Wilkins.

“In the early ’90s, Tommy, Salman, Sluggo & Jim dressed up and shot some photos for a new board series,” Real mentioned on Instagram. “30 some years later, we decided to do the same… because apparently we still think playing dress up is cool. New crew, new boards, same questionable ideas. The Costume Series is back.”

Jimmy Wilkins recently channeled his inner-Max Schaaf with the Real squad as well, recreating the classic Dollar Sign board ad. “It was a terrible idea the first time,” Real joked on Instagram. “So of course we had to do it again.” Peep the video above.
Again, sometimes you just gotta dig in the archive and have some fun.

At this point, a brand like Real can pretty much do anything they want, and I’ll back it—at least as far as graphics and stuff. Their team is elite. Their history is admirable. They’ve just been doing it right since day one, and the same simply can’t be said for every brand in skateboarding.
Look for the series at your local shop. Anyone have any of the OG graphics in their archive? Time for a re-up!
