Sidney Crosby left for the dressing room with an apparent right leg injury six minutes into the second period of the Canadian men’s hockey team’s quarterfinal matchup against Czechia at the Milano-Cortina Olympic Games.
Crosby won’t return to the game, according to Hockey Night in Canada’s Elliotte Friedman.
Crosby’s leg appeared to buckle as he braced for a neutral-zone hit from Radko Gudas with Canada trailing 2-1.
Canada’s captain remained on the ice for another few seconds before Gudas and Martin Necas simultaneously hit him along the boards in the offensive zone.
Crosby returned to the bench in noticeable discomfort as the crowd gasped before he left with trainers to the room. Broadcast cameras showed he left on his own power.

The 38-year-old from Cole Harbour, N.S., is competing in his third Olympics after helping Canada win gold in 2010 and 2014 — the last time the Games included NHL players.
Crosby had two goals and four assists in Milan. He set a Canadian record with his 16th Olympic point in Canada’s 10-2 win over France.
