Winnipeg police have arrested a suspect in numerous arsons in the city and will speak about the case at a news conference Wednesday afternoon.
The news conference is scheduled to start at 2:15 p.m. CT. It will be streamed live here.
CBC News has reported on numerous cases of alleged arson and extortion in recent months, mostly involving restaurants.
Police said last month the incidents are not all linked and declined to say whether any of them were connected to extortion attempts.
A police spokesperson wouldn’t say whether the arrest is related to any of those cases ahead of the announcement.
Officials previously said that the major crimes unit did 177 arson investigations in the first three-quarters of this year, with 23 arrests.
