Longueuil police spokesperson Jacqueline Pierre told Radio-Canada the baby was less than 28 days old.

Monday morning, Longueuil police posted on their social media that they found a baby in a bus shelter located on Chambly Road, near Briggs Street.

The baby was found still attached to the placenta, naked, and very cold, according to the Coopérative des techniciens ambulanciers de la Montérégie, a paramedic service for Quebec’s Montérégie region.

He was unconscious at the time and resuscitation maneuvers were carried out until the baby arrived at the hospital.

In a Facebook post, the Service de police de l’agglomération de Longueuil (SPAL) said a call was made to 911 at around 6:30 a.m. Monday to report what appeared to be a baby in a bus shelter.

The SPAL added that first aid was immediately administered to the baby, who was taken to hospital.

In its publication, police also said an operation is underway and asked the public to avoid the area. A command post was set up at the scene.

As of 8 a.m., Briggs Street eastbound and Chambly Road northbound were closed to all traffic.

Earlier this month, another newborn was found on the doorstep of a home on Bourgeoys Street in Longueuil.

The boy had been found swaddled in a blanket with his umbilical cord still attached.

In the hopes of finding a person of interest in the case, police later released footage showing a person holding what appeared to be a baby in their arms, as they walked down a sidewalk.

Police are still investigating the case.
