Dube, a former Flame, was one of five hockey players acquitted in July of sexual assault charges stemming from an incident in London, Ont., in 2018 when they were members of Canada’s world junior team.

When asked Wednesday if the Flames were interested in re-signing Dube, Flames general manager Craig Conroy said “at this point, no.”

“I think Dillon probably just needs a fresh start,” Conroy said.

Dube was captain of the Canadian junior team in 2018 and a second-round pick of the Flames in 2016.

The five-foot-11, 185-pound forward had 57 goals and 70 assists in 325 games over six seasons with Calgary.

He took an indefinite leave from the Flames in January 2024 when the team said he was attending to his mental health.

Dube, Carter Hart, Cal Foote, Michael McLeod and Alex Formenton were charged with sexual assault later that month. Dube’s contract with the Flames expired last year after charges were filed.

An Ontario Superior Court justice found the five players not guilty after an eight-week trial. The Crown has said it will not appeal the ruling.

The NHL recently reinstated the athletes and said they’d be eligible to sign contracts on Oct. 15, and take part in games Dec. 1.
