Not only was J. Grant Brittain one of the founders of TransWorld SKATEboarding magazine in the 80s, but he’s still out there to this day getting down and dirty on the edges of pool coping, major contests, and random sessions at Poods all the same.
He’s hosting a free photo show next Thursday, August 7th in San Diego, and it’s bound to be a good time—Grant’s photo shows always rule! He’ll be doing a little slideshow, signing copies of his photo book, Push, and will be doing a Q&A with the audience as well. Peep the post below to learn more.

His photos have always captured moments—not just tricks—and he was right there on the front lines while this whole thing we know as skateboarding was evolving. So get your questions ready and fire ’em off, because you know this legendary lensman has stories for days.
Say what you want, but skateboarding wouldn’t be what it is without people like Grant who were there to capture the raw energy of it all during that golden era. His photos are timeless—despite the era—and it’s always a treat seeing them neatly hung on gallery walls (or in this case, projected on the side of a wall).
Again, peep the IG post above for all the details. We’ll see you all there.
