New to Prime Day? We have a primer on everything you need to know. Sales are accurate at the time of publication, but prices and inventory are always subject to change.
As a marathon runner, I’ve always taken a minimalist (read: cheapskate) approach to my gear. But when it comes to properly investing in—and maybe even splurging on—running equipment, nothing is more important than your shoes.
My preferred pair at the moment? The Brooks Ghost 16s. They’re a reliable “daily trainer” that get the job done on quick sprints and slow long runs alike. And the Brooks Ghost 16s are currently on sale for Prime day, down from $139.95 to just $80.75 (men’s) or $99.95 (women’s).
What’s more, this deal combines Prime Day savings with another one of my favorite cost-saving tricks: Always buy last season’s sneaker models. Unless you’re a serious racer, there’s rarely a reason to splurge on the newest, hottest shoes. With the latest Brooks Ghost 17 shoes released in May for $150, today’s Prime Day sale is the perfect opportunity to snag the Brooks Ghost 16s for much less.
Even if you are running 20+ miles weekly, training for half or full marathons, or hitting the track for speed-work, you’ll be hard-pressed to find this high quality of shoe at a more affordable price. The Brooks Ghost 16s are truly my ol’ reliables. (For more, check out my round-up of the best running shoes on the market right now, according to the experts.)
