Mike Carroll’s part in Modus Operandi is undoubtedly cemented in skateboarding history. It dropped during the golden age of TransWorld SKATEboarding videos and gave us the perfect taste of Carroll’s flow, precision, and power at the time.
Can you believe it’s been over two decades since this banger dropped? Carroll sat down on The Nine Club Live recently to revisit that iconic part and offer insight into what it was like filming one of skateboarding’s most cherished parts. Videos like this are always rad because, well, who doesn’t love a little backstory? I love hearing about who was on the session, how they ended up at certain spots, why certain tricks were chosen and others weren’t—the list goes on. True skate nerd stuff. Skateboarding hall-of-famer. Business owner. Role model. True OG. Mike Carroll is one of my all-time favorite skateboarders, just like many of you, I’d assume. So calm and cool. Always. (Well, most of the time, ha!) And just FYI—the dude is still out there ripping to this day.
