Van life. Maybe you know it? Maybe not. But it’s such a huge part of skateboarding culture, which is why this new video from The Platfrm really hits close to homes for many skateboarders—from hungry ams to certified pros.

Don’t let Roberts’ quote throw you off, though. As Felipe Gustavo poetically puts it: “That’s where your heart is.” To each their own. We hear Sean Malto, Braden Hoban, Greyson Fletcher, Tom Schaar, Georgia Martin, and Lazer Crawford all chime in with their own takes on van life. And we’re given glimpses from the road along the way.

It’s all pretty interesting, you know? I grew up dreaming of “being in the van” with my favorite pros and I’ve been fortunate enough to be in that position a handful of times throughout my life, but it really is a world of its own. Unwritten rules. Constant chaos. Scared to sleep. Fully out of your comfort zone (some more than others). The road really goes on forever.
Hearing from so many different pros here is awesome, though. Everyone has their own experiences and their own routine. There’s a hierarchy involved, and you better know it. But that’s also how so many of these amazing relationships form.

Omar Hassan summed it. up best: “There’s two sides to skating,” he mentions. “You got the competitive side… and you got the van life side.” That’s that. Press play if you haven’t yet. This was rad.
