The 2025 Skateboarding Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony went down last week, honoring another stacked class of legends and pioneers. Among them were two names you simply can’t talk about 90s skateboarding without mentioning—Sean Sheffey and Sal Barbier.
The SHOF just dropped the official inductee tribute videos, and they’re too good not to share. Not to play favorites or anything… but let’s kick things off with Sheffey. My man! Here’s what the Skateboarding Hall of Fame had to say:
“Starting out riding for the legendary east coast company SHUT SKATES to H- Street and his breakthrough part in the LIFE video and into the 1990’s with Plan B and GIRL Skateboards Sean Sheffey showed the world what powerful street skating was.” Peep the video below.
Next up is Sal Barbier—an absolute legend on and off the board. A pioneer, a style influencer, Sal’s impact runs deep to this day. Here’s what the SHOF had to say about his legacy:
“Sal Barbier was an innovator and a trailblazer. Coming from Baton Rouge, Louisiana to California in the late 1980’s to join up with H Street, Sal blew minds in the HOKUS POKUS video and later in Plan B’s QUESTIONABLE video,” the SHOF mentioned on YouTube. “Sal went on to start many brands and was one of the first street skaters to have a hugely successful skate shoe.” Check Sal’s video below:
