Fun, fun, fun. That’s why we’re here, right? Board brands experimenting with unique shapes and sizes is nothing new. Sometimes it works, other times it’s debatable. But when we’re talking about an iconic, respected brand like Black Label, there’s never a debate. And the new ‘Jumbotron’ shape and ‘Stand By’ graphic are great examples.

First of all, let’s talk about the graphic. Classic Label vibes from the mind of John Lucero. The different wood stains rule and the subtle messaging is powerful. But this new shape!? Yes. I’m backing this plank hard. “Short, Wide and Quick!” Black Label mentions in the caption. Say no more.
Since we’re talking about new, unique Black Label shapes, have you seen the new ‘Curb Surfer’ by Jason Adams. Check that thing out below. Another instant classic.

Black Label has always been one of my favorite brands. They’ve stuck to their ethos since day one. For skateboarders, by skateboarders. And to this day, they continue to keep things raw, fun and interesting with shapes and graphics like this.
If the comments on the post tell us anything, people are fired up:
“Perfect,” one person wrote. “And damn you for making another must-have board.”
“Thank goodness someone is making boards this wide in this shape,” said another.
And there are countless others leaving flame emojis, heart eyes, and commenting things like, “NEED!” and “Yes!” and “Stoked!”

What were you doing in 1988? I’ll tell you what I was doing—waiting to be born, ha! But really, I’m only asking because that’s when Black Label started. That’s 37 years of radness. 37 years! In the skateboarding world, that’s almost unheard of. But when you do things right, refuse to chase trends, and genuinely love what you’re doing, time is bound to fly.
Like the Curb Surfer, this new plank is a must-have for the quiver. Like I said—fun, fun, fun! Just staring at this thing makes me want to skate. It is Friday. I’ll see you guys out there. The curbs are calling.
