Paramedics took three workers to hospital following a Monday morning collapse at a home construction site in Hamilton’s Stoney Creek area.
According to Hamilton Police Service spokesperson Adam Kimber, early information suggests a concrete porch at a residential site collapsed, trapping three men working underneath.
First responders arrived at the scene around 9 a.m., worked to free the men, then took them to hospital. One had a “serious” leg injury, Kimber said in an email around 11:30 a.m.
“The extent of the other injuries is not considered life-threatening at this time,” Kimber said.
Dave Thompson, a commander with the Hamilton Paramedic Service, confirmed paramedics transported three adult men with “various serious injuries.”
Ontario’s Ministry of Labour is investigating, Kimber said, and police are assisting as required.
The road was temporarily closed but has since re-opened.
