Canadian BTS fans don’t need Permission to Dance as they get excited for the K-pop group’s newly announced world tour, which includes a two-night stop in Toronto.

It’ll be the first world tour for the seven member group after the completion of their mandatory military service — a conscription requirement of all able-bodied men aged 18 to 28 in South Korea.

The group will be hitting the stage at Rogers Stadium on Aug. 22 and 23 in Toronto later this year, which also marks their first Canadian concerts since 2018.

Tuesday’s tour announcement had mother-son duo Sokvin and Jordan Vann “bouncing off the walls,” Vann told CBC Radio’s Metro Morning.

He said they had tickets to the group’s last scheduled concert in 2020, which was unfortunately cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“[During] COVID, everyone lost hope. They were the hope and now after [completing the] military, they’re finally back and it’s going to be amazing,” said Vann, who along with his mother, Sokvin, founded the BTS Army Toronto fan club.

Sokvin said BTS helped her overcome the loss of her brother and in accepting her Asian heritage.

“I was actually just telling my son, growing up, it wasn’t cool to be Asian. I had an identity crisis,” she said. “It’s just a different kind of perspective when you actually feel like you can belong. So [the band] just says [to] be yourself. That’s the message.”

Fans hoping to snag tickets can sign up for the presale by 6 p.m. EST on Jan. 18 to get early access to advanced tickets on Jan. 22.

Tickets for the general public will go on sale Jan. 24 at 1 p.m. EST.

Vann said the duo will be intensely focused on different computers in different rooms trying to get their own tickets.

If they get a hold of any seats, the pair will likely “be on the floor screaming, crying, throwing up,” said Sokvin.

She adds fans should remember to breathe, eat, drink and “practice your clicking” the day tickets come out.
