CBC News has learned that actor Josh Hartnett was a passenger in an SUV that was involved in a collision with a Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) patrol vehicle in St. John’s on Thursday.
The actor was in the city filming a show for Netflix. Speaking on background, a source with knowledge of the production said the actor was travelling home from set when the vehicle he was riding in was hit by another vehicle.
The RNC issued a press release on Sept. 25, stating police are investigating a collision involving one of its patrol vehicles.
The two-vehicle crash happened at the intersection of New Cove Road and Elizabeth Avenue, shortly before 1 a.m., wrote RNC communications officer Cst. James Cadigan.
Hartnett was in the car with another 59-year-old man, and both were sent to hospital with what police believed to be minor injuries.
The male police officer also went to hospital as a precaution.
The RNC are now looking for any witnesses or footage from the collision to support their investigation.
