You might not realize it, but you’re a huge fan of Jon Miner.
This Is Skateboarding. Stay Gold. Kids In Emerica. The hard-hitting Made series—do any of these ring a bell? Hope so, because I’m just barely scratching the surface.
He’s filmed the greatest skateboarders in the game. He’s created some of the most timeless skate videos ever made. And he’s quietly been killing it behind the scenes for decades. His story was one that needed to be told, and in the latest episode of Let It Kill You, that’s exactly what we get. This is Jon Miner. Dive in.

To kick off Season 2 of the series, creator Ben McQueen rolled down to Santa Rosa to sit down with Jon for a deep, personal dive into his story. Miner is a pretty low key, behind-the-scenes dude, so again, hearing his story is something to get stoked on. It’s honest. It’s raw. It’s real. If you were a fan of Miner’s work before, beware—this will make you a mega-fan.

I grew up admiring Jon Miner’s work. This Is Skateboarding is undeniably one of my favorite skate videos ever—hands down—and to this day, I’m in awe of how much of an impact it made on my life. Not just the skating, either. The entire direction of the video has always blown me away. And we have Miner to thank for that. I guess that’s the point, right? When the artsy B-Roll is getting you just as stoked as the skating, someone is doing something right.
Reynolds, Kirchart, Westgate, Spanky… these are top tier skateboarders. And they make one thing super clear—when the person behind the lens is basically trying as hard as the person in front of it, that’s when the magic happens. It’s also pretty rare.
