There were myriad things you could’ve and should’ve been doing on Go Skateboarding Day, but if you found yourself in the desert, more specifically at the Palm Springs Surf Club, you definitely were in for a show.
Greyson Fletcher set things off in the parking lot setting the long distance Ollie record “From ramp to flat.” Usually long Ollie records are set from ramp to ramp or just on flat ground. All the long distance stuff going down at Record Breakers was off a ramp to flat, aka “Raha Official.”
Check Jaws’ recap below.
“Had a blast this weekend @recordbreakers.co Got to see @colbyraha send it 200 ft to flat, @greyson_fletcher send it off a kicker, @nathanfletcher tow in @bruceirons into some waves and jump off some roofs with @whoisdylan & @topabmx. Thank you to everyone that came out! Can’t wait for the next one.”
You know Jaws was in the mix jumping off roofs, too. And he threw out a nice kickflip melon off the ramp to flat.
After Greyson, Dylan Starks, and Andrew Topa were done with the ramp to flat, it was time for Colby Raha to set a new record, jumping 23 BMWs to flat. The entire Surf Club attendance came out to the parking lot and we waited, anxiousley, as the wind blew across the landing zone and the sun set in Colby’s eyes.
After a few speed checks, Colby launched it without hesitation, cleared the cars by plenty of space and did what he set out to do with this exhibition—a new ramp-to-flat record of 200 feet. Insane.
But it wasn’t over there! Everyone went back inside to see Jaws and the bikers jump off the bungalows into the wedge ramp. Then, they dropped a jetski into the wave pool and were towing surfers into the waves to launch them higher into the air than ever before and try to put down some NBD moves.
Major shout out to Colby Raha and Eric Sorenson for this brain child of theirs. There will be more of these events coming soon! Get there while you can!
