Supreme and Zoo York are linking up to celebrate that raw NYC skateboarding energy that truly helped reshape the culture in the late 80s/early 90s.
Dropping June 19, this upcoming collaboration is focusing just as much on the streetwise roots of these iconic brands as it is East Coast skateboarding as a whole. But the result is perfect nonetheless. Swipe through and take a look:

Supreme wrote: “Zoo York was a skateboard company established in 1993 in New York City. At the time, Southern California was the focus of skateboarding as an industry and culture. Zoo York emerged as the first major East Coast skateboard company, exposing New York City’s distinct style to skateboarders across the world.”
Rightfully tacking on: “In the late 1980s and early 1990s, most skate companies were coming out of the West Coast and drawing inspiration from Southern California’s upstart punk rock scene. East Coast skateboarders, however, largely had more overlap with New York City’s own homegrown subcultures – graffiti and hip-hop. Zoo York captured this intersection with their hugely influential skate video The Zoo York Mixtape.”

For those who don’t know, the Zoo York Mixtape, shot by RB Umali, debuted in 1997 at the New York Underground Film Festival and basically became an instant classic.
“The video captured how skateboarders responded to New York City’s harsher climates and rough street spots, with a raw grit and refined style all their own,” Supreme mentions.
“[And] made a transformative impact on how skateboarding would develop worldwide throughout the decade.”
