Australian powerhouse Gabriel Summers took to Instagram to announce that he’s officially parted ways with Zero Skateboards. While moves like this often spark speculation, it seems to me like this was simply just a personal decision—with no bad blood, hard feelings, or burnt bridges involved.
“Teenage me would think I’m crending (career ending) right now but I’ve chosen to part ways with Zero Skateboards. Thank you so much for everything Jamie Thomas and the team,” the caption read. Peep the post below.

While the news certainly feels like it came out of nowhere, some of skateboarding’s heaviest pros, Zero riders and countless skateboarders took the comments to show Gabbers love.
“One of my personal faves to have ridden for @zeroskateboards 😍 I’ll see you on the streets mate!” —Tommy Sandoval
“I hope my SOTY finds an awesome new home!” —Ryan Decenzo
“Much Love and Respect Gabbers! ❤️ your path of destruction has been one of the gnarliest of all time to witness and be apart of! Your legacy is cemented within the halls of Zero’s Elite Alumni” —Adam Arunski
“Love you Gabbers!” —Jamie Thomas
And while there were hundreds upon hundreds of others, everyone seems to be genuinely stoked for Gabbers and whatever lies ahead.

You could argue Gabbers fit the Zero mold perfectly. The dude was—and is—a straight up balls-to-the-wall skateboarder. Fearless. Aggressive. No gimmicks.
Every part (shoot, every clip) I’ve ever seen from Summers has always had me quite literally on the edge of my seat. And he’s taken some of the most brutal slams I’ve ever seen. I’m sure many of you would agree.
We have no clue what’s on the horizon, but I’m sure we’ll all find out soon enough. I can respect the fact that he made his exit like a gentleman, though. A real class act, on and off the board.
Cheers to the future, Gabbers! We can’t wait to see what’s next.
