The innovative minds at DLX have been teasing their new “DBX” deck construction for the past few months and we got a proper introduction to this impressive plank technology courtesy of Mason Silva, Grant Taylor, Mike Anderson and more of your favs a while back (I’ll add the video in this article), and at the time—and with names like that—I simply asked: what more needs to be said?

Well, now we have Ishod Wair, Cody Chapman, Patrick Praman, Gus Gordon and a handful of DLX’s finest chiming in just to add a little more fuel to the fire. Take a look:

“The new DBX decks were designed for an ultra-responsive, light, and quick feel with lasting consistency throughout the lifetime of the board. They are lighter, thinner, and stronger than traditional 7-ply decks,” DLX mentioned on IG.

Tacking on: “Unlike typical composite decks focused solely on strength, DBX decks are designed not only for strength but also with an emphasis on response, feel, pop, and overall lasting performance over the life of your board.”

This is all pretty interesting, if you ask me. I’m always a fan of new board technology. And you certainly don’t need me to tell you that decks with no pop (or even boards that are too stiff) can be a deal-breaker. These look like a happy medium. But hey, I’m just the messenger. Listen to Ishod and the squad above. Consider me intrigued!

Look for the DBX decks at your local shop! I’ll do the same. These look rad!

What Is Basalt – And Why Use It on A Skateboard Deck?

Basalt is a hard, black volcanic rock formed by rapidly cooling molten lava, known for its multidimensional strength properties. The 3 basalt layers improve the deck’s structural integrity and stiffness while giving the maple veneers a ‘backbone’ that maximizes the wood’s natural resonance.
