Tenant Skateshop has been a pillar of the New York City skate scene since 2019. This month, they decided to pick up and move locations from their long-standing locale on Dekalb Avenue, on the border of Brooklyn’s Bed Stuy and Bushwick neighborhood,s and moved on up to Greenpoint: 599 Manhattan Avenue to be precise.Â
To celebrate, they threw a big skate jam at their now-local-park, McCarren. They added a big, steep extension, made famous by Ventura, California’s West Park. Check a compilation of clips:
Even Evan Mock showed up to rip. The homie balancing a full oil drum on his head while riding a bike through the park was there too. Blunt, kickflip to fakie was probably the gnarliest thing to go down, right?

As always, support your local skateshop! We’ll be stopping by next time we’re in town (which will be later this month).
From Tenant’s IG: “Making this decision to move was incredibly hard when thinking back to all the great times on Dekalb. But it’s time for us to turn the page and try our best to keep this dying art alive for New York City skateboarding. Thank you again to everyone that has ever stopped in at 1096 Dekalb Ave over the years.”
