Mark “Fos” Foster is as real as the come. Skateboarder. Artist. All-around epic dude. If you’ve ever picked up a Heroin Skateboards plank, rolled on some Snot Wheels, or nerded out over a random graphic from, say, Toy Machine, Deathwish, Baker—the list goes on—chances are you’ve already been inside the wild mind of Fos.
And this new documentary from our friends at The Platfrm gives us a proper look behind the scenes of one of skateboarding’s most unique creative forces. Fos isn’t just an artist, either. He’s a brand builder, a visionary, and a straight-up lifer when it comes to skateboarding. Settle in and press play. This rules.

Like most docs, what makes this edit so rad is how it peels back the curtain on the person behind all this stuff. You get a glimpse of where he came from, what drives him, his genuine obsession with skateboarding, comics, punk rock—so many of our favorite things, right? And it’s all helped him carve out a lane of his own that’s still going strong.

Fun fact: Fos also helped shape the visual identity of Altamont Apparel (remember Altamont?) aside from creating some of the most iconic board graphics in the game, and again, he’s always had a style that’s unmistakably his. You see a Fos graphic and you know it’s a Fos graphic.
Personally, I’ve been a fan of Fos for years, and seeing him get this kind of light shed on him is long overdue. He’s sort of a recluse, but what artist isn’t? And that simply just adds to the mystery and intrigue of the dude. I’m not gonna spoil anything else, though. Watch the doc! Long live Fos.
